Overview

SCVO is delighted to be hosting this in person event within the Scottish Government’s COP26 Climate Ambition Zone to celebrate and explore the role of non-environmental organisations in the just transition to net zero.

Overall aim

This event aims to showcase some of the excellent work charities and voluntary organisations are already doing to support people to adapt to climate change and net zero. It is also an opportunity to discuss how the sector might engage with and influence this major social and political change over the next decade or two.

Description

The event will hear from the finalists in the Climate Conscious category of this year’s Scottish Charity Award on what they are doing as organisation to tackle climate change. It will be followed by a discussion led by Anna Fowlie, chief executive, SCVO, on the challenges and opportunities for voluntary organisations in the transition to net zero.

Panelists:

  • Jacqui Winning, chief executive, Forth Valley Sensory Centre
  • Anne-Marie Clements, partnership liaison officer, R:evolve Recycle
  • Sarah McArthur, Trustee, 2050 Climate Group
  • Shona Robison MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Housing & Local Government

There will be opportunities for the live audience to engage in this discussion.

Who was the event aimed at?

This event is for all voluntary organisations, public and private sector stakeholders interested in how the third sector will support the transition to net zero.

Other Information

For security reasons, this event is by invitation only. SCVO needs to verify the identity of people within the audience and participants will have to bring photographic ID – passport, drivers license or government ID – to enter the building.
