- Overview
The Scottish Government is currently developing legislation on Community Wealth Building, an approach to economic development that ensures that wealth and assets are locally owned, to the benefit of the local economy and community.
Community Wealth Building presents opportunities for voluntary organisations to play a greater role in local supply chains, and for communities to benefit from a stronger local economy.
In the first part of this session, Neil McInroy, CWB Advisor to Scottish Government, will provide an overview of Community Wealth Building
In the second part of this session, participants will have the opportunity to hear an update from Tom Arthur MSP, Minister for Public Finance, Planning and Community Wealth, on plans for Community Wealth Building legislation.
There will be a group discussion on what needs to happen to ensure that aspirations for voluntary sector involvement in Community Wealth Building can be realised.
- Overall aim
Participants will have a clear understanding of plans for Community Wealth Building in Scotland, and opportunities for the voluntary sector and communities within this.
Participants will have the opportunity to shape legislation and implementation by feeding back to the Minister and Scottish Government officials.
- Who is the event aimed at?
Anyone in the voluntary sector who would like to know more about Community Wealth Building, including voluntary organisations who could be part of local supply chains, community groups, and those who wish to influence the development of the legislation.
