Employer eligibility

To participate in the Kickstart Scheme all employer organisations:

  • must have a PAYE registration number and directly employ staff members
  • must demonstrate a sufficient track record of fiscal competence.
    • Employers who have been trading less than 1 year will not pass the due diligence test as they will not yet have submitted accounts
    • Employers trading between 1-2 years may not be able to demonstrate a sufficient track record if they have not submitted accounts. For example, they may not yet be due to submit accounts depending on the month when the business started or they may have failed to submit accounts when required to do so.

At this time Sole Traders are deemed as ineligible but DWP are looking into this.
