Just Enterprise has been funded by the third sector resilience fund to provide specialist business advice to social enterprises facing a loss of trading income due to coronavirus. This includes one to one support and online resources. Visit www.justenterprise.org.
We have collated the public statements that independent funders have made on how they are responding to this situation. If you are unsure, you should contact your funder to discuss this.
SCVO has raised with Scottish Government, COSLA and other funders the importance of thinking about how to keep the pipeline of funding open for voluntary organisations. We are pressing them again on this, as the period approaches for many organisations where redundancy notices will have to be issued if decisions are not made. We will update on this as soon as we can.
The Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Local Government has confirmed in a letter to Anna Fowlie that “[a]cross Government we are working to ensure that payments to third sector organisations are made promptly.” If you continue to face difficulties, please let us know using experience@scvo.org.uk.
The Scottish Government has published a Scottish Procurement Policy Note, providing guidance for public bodies on options for payment to their suppliers to ensure service continuity during the current coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
The guidance states that ” [t]he current outbreak of COVID-19 is unprecedented and will have a significant impact on businesses of all sizes. Many suppliers to public bodies will struggle to meet their contractual obligations. This will put their financial viability, ability to retain staff and their supply chains at risk. Public bodies should act now to support their suppliers so they are better able to cope with the current crisis and to resume normal service delivery and fulfil their contractual obligations when the outbreak is over. “
The Scottish Government and a number of other funders have set up funds to help. We are keeping our website up to date with information on funds, including how to apply as this becomes available.
