Overall aim

• Continue local and national dialogue about what is needed to sustain and enhance connections and cross-sector working on resilient communities.
• Share research, lessons and recommendations on the role of communities and 3rd sector in emergency resilience and facilitate discussions amongst participants about how this learning can inform their current and future collaborative work on community resilience
• Empower attendees to identify actions that they can take forward to develop and improve grassroots relationships and partnership activity for effective future mobilisation in response to local emergency risks.

Description

We’ve seen a lot of learning from coronavirus and recent severe weather events about the part that voluntary sector groups have played in major emergencies. The capability, strength and humanity of communities and the voluntary sector are an essential part of Scotland’s resilience to any major national challenges. This workshop, delivered by the Scottish government’s Resilient Communities policy team along with voluntary sector colleagues will continue the local and national dialogue about what is needed to sustain and enhance connections and cross-sector working on community resilience to emergencies.
