Event summary and materials

What was covered in your sessions?

The interactive session covered what a place-based approach to ending homelessness means and how the power of communities can be harnessed as an innovative approach to preventing homelessness through choice, control and access to support.

Homelessness isn’t inevitable, so our session looked at what a prevention framework looks like. We explored who is most at risk of experiencing homelessness and why a place-based approach can reduce that risk and discussed how this could be applied in communities across Scotland.

Was there any useful feedback or reflection from the participants?

We were delighted to have such an interactive session with participants contributing insight and thought provoking questions.

Participants were in agreement that a place-based approach is the way forward and that there should be an increased focus on community based support. The theme of stigma was also discussed, and GAEH alongside HNS are planning to an Anti-Stigma campaign which will incorporate feedback received during our session.

Breaking down siloed working was a key theme in the room, and participants agreed that more work has to be done to create a joined-up approach to ending homelessness in the city.
