The General Commercial Chamber of Chuan-yu in UK CIC
- Membership number 10665
The General Commercial Chamber of Chuan-Yu in UK is a community interest company based in Edinburgh. We promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Scotland and the Chinese community, with a special focus on the Chuan-Yu region (Sichuan and Chongqing). We organise annual Lunar New Year celebrations — including traditional performances, cultural workshops, and family activities — that are open to everyone. These events bring together British-Chinese families, Chinese students and professionals, local Scottish residents, and international visitors, creating a warm space for connection and shared celebration. During the summer and Christmas holidays, we run bilateral cultural exchange programmes. We introduce British culture to Chinese communities in the UK, and bring Chinese cultural experiences to Scottish audiences. We also support Chinese visitors in understanding Scottish customs and daily life. At the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, we host cultural showcases featuring Chinese and British-Chinese artists, provide information and orientation for Chinese visitors, and organise networking events to encourage friendship and dialogue between international participants and local communities. In the longer term, we aim to establish regular cultural workshops and language classes, partner with Scottish schools and universities to offer intercultural education, and support local Chinese and British-Chinese artists and entrepreneurs. Any surplus we generate is donated to Alba Cathay Chinese School of Edinburgh (a registered charity), with the consent of the CIC Regulator. We are based in Edinburgh and serve communities across Scotland.
