YMCA Glenrothes – the ‘Y’ – has been providing learning and leisure opportunities for over 60 years. Offering a friendly and welcoming central community space, the ‘Y’ has grown to be one of the largest voluntary organisations spread over three sites in the town.All three sites deliver community opportunities and two also provide supported homeless accommodation. The charity is supported by many volunteers with around 20 people giving regular and consistent service. YMCA Glenrothes is an independent local charity which is governed by local volunteers from Fife and affiliated to the worldwide YMCA movement. The charity works with many other organisations in Fife and across Scotland.YMCA Glenrothes offers a variety of programs and services aimed at supporting the local community. These include:Youthlife: Youth Work is co-designed by young people to empower young people and help them develop essential life skills. Supporting the local community to change lives.Connect Fife is a project led by YMCA Glenrothes aimed at ending digital poverty in Fife. Connect Fife provides devices, internet access, and digital skills support to individuals experiencing homelessness.Community Support: They offer free SIM cards, affordable broadband packages, and digital skills sessions in Glenrothes and Levenmouth.Homelessness Prevention: By improving digital access, Connect Fife helps prevent homelessness and supports individuals in gaining employment.Sports and Physical Activities: We host activities like ladies' badminton sessions, pickleball, taekwondo, martial arts for all ages.Support for Homelessness: We provide support for individuals experiencing homelessness in Fife.Community Centre: The Y Community Centre facilities group work, 1-1 sessions, cooking groups, community groups, training events, and more.We host over 20 organisations such as support for drug, alcohol, and health and wellbeing.
