The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Scottish SPCA) SC006467 is Scotland’s animal welfare charity. We’ve been helping animals in need for over 180 years and support every community in every part of Scotland. At the heart of the Scottish SPCA we encourage kindness to animals, prevent cruelty through education, investigate abuse, rescue animals in distress and find animals loving new homes. We rescue, rehabilitate and release thousands of wild animals each year. Through doing all of this, we believe we can build a better world for animals and make sure people benefit from the strength of the human-animal bond too.We are unique among animal welfare charities in the UK in being recognised as a reporting agency to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service. This means our inspectors can enforce the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006, investigate cruelty to animals and help take people guilty of abuse and neglect to court. We work closely with the Scottish Government and the Scottish Parliament to influence legislative change which is apparent in the proposed changes due to come into force later this year.
