The aim of the Upper Eskdale Development Group (UEDG) is to further the regeneration of the community and community spirit within the local area. On 19th January 2006 a Community Consultation was held which overwhelmingly came out in favour of creating the following (in order of preference): Pub/Café, Social Venue, Lifestyle Venue, Community Learning information and activity centre, Business startup and incubation potential.The Cafe is considered to be the first priority since if it is working well then it will attract other individuals and groups to use the facilities.
