Since its foundation, the aim of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award has been to help young people prepare for the life that lies ahead. The DofE operates across all areas of our society and special effort is focused on the more needy areas where the impact of their activity, and the recognition provided by the DofE is very high. A charitable organisation the DofE relies upon the goodwill and financial support of commercial organisations, trusts and private individuals.
