Association of Lithuanians in North East Scotland

The aims and objectives of the Association shall be as follows:

a) to promote the Lithuanian Association as a community organisation in North East Scotland;

b) to unite the Lithuanian community residing in North East Scotland to increase social inclusion and social cohesion;

c) to promote Lithuanian traditions, culture, language, sport and art through communities within Scotland by holding national celebrations and events;

d) to integrate and collaborate with local and indigenous communities, and take part in their events, whilst preserving the Lithuanian identity;

e) to be more informed about the opportunities of involvement in Scottish community life, supported by Scottish Government programmes;

f) to ensure that all Lithuanians are duly informed of their rights;

g) to celebrate equalities and diversity in Scotland and be positive contributors to the welfare of our new home, to provide wellbeing advice and organise active leisure and wellbeing activities for the community;

h) to increase the Lithuanian community’s visibility on Scottish scientific, educational, cultural and sporting arenas via cooperation with universities, colleges and local councils in the form of workshops, lectures, media and where possible, joint projects;

i) to develop Lithuanian community skills to enhance employability prospects and entrepreneurial abilities and support Lithuanian entrepreneurs and their businesses on a non-commercial basis;

j) to participate in worldwide projects involving Lithuanian communities and groups;

k) to provide volunteering opportunities, primarily to Lithuanian expats;

l) to co-operate and work in partnership with Aberdeen City or other Councils in North East Scotland.
