The Vale of Leven Trust is a registered charity and covers the areas of Alexandria, Tullichewan, Levenvale, Balloch, Haldane, Bonhill and Jamestown.
The organisation's main purpose is consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development. It's aims are:
A) To preserve, restore and improve the environment in the Vale of Leven and its environs, through the provision, maintenance and/or improvement of public open space and other public amenities and other environmental and regeneration projects.
B) To manage community land and associated assets for the benefit of the Community and the public in general as an important part of the protection and sustainable development of Scotland's natural environment, where 'sustainable development' means development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
General Target Outcomes are to:
• Improve the economy of the town of Alexandria; • Investigate how the economy / footfall can be increased within the Town Centre; • Improve the physical environment of the Vale of Leven; • Investigate how the lives of residents can be improved against the current more negative outcomes noted in the WDC SIMD (2016).
