AIM and PURPOSE OF ATHOLLThe aim of the Centre is to provide facilities that can meet the diverse range of needs for individuals and groups from all parts of society who come to a Centre. both residential and non-residential guests. Activities Most weekends residential groups of children, young people or older adults use the Centre. Groups with disabled members find the facilities in the Centre very helpful.Non-residential activity at the Centre is considerable and has been increasing in the past few years. The Centre has come a social, education and support Hub in the town. There are a considerable number of groups using the Centre (in normal times) Support Groups for Mental Health, Autism and for Carers took place regularly. Social groups included Brass Band practices, A Bridge Club, Youth and Children’s activity. A large Soup and Sandwich lunch attracting around 45, mostly elderly folk for whom it is a major weekly social event. (at Christmas for the past few year – not 2020 – attracted over 30 locals who came to have Christmas lunch and afternoon together. Social activity post covid is planned to help people their confidence and get out. The Centre, is in partnership with the local NHS Community nurses, moving forward we anticipate more non-residential activity.The Atholl Centre is the designated Emergency Centre and electric plug point for the towns’ emergency generator for the area for emergencies on the A9, the local hospital, the local care home and the SSE list of vulnerable residents in the wider community, town and rural. (over 100 vulnerable people could need this resource, it does not attract any funding support)During the covid crisis a Changing Places Toilet, within the Centre has been created. This will provide a resource for the Pitlochry and the rural hinterland and be of value to anyone traveling in the UK who wish to visit the town, or use the facility when passing. The CPT will open in the next few month subject to Covid restrictions and guidance.
