The Inclusive Homework Club (IHC) was founded in 2018 with a focus on creating an educational support hub for individuals with learning difficulties and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Since its inception, the impact of the IHC has continued to grow, and it officially gained charity status on June 22, 2020. Founded by Firdaus Ahmed, the club is supported by funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, Robertson Trust, Corra Foundation, and Allen Lane, Garfield Foundation and others. The core offering of the IHC is its Homework Club, where volunteer tutors provide one-on-one academic support to children in subjects such as English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. With over 60 children currently receiving support each week, the program has proven to be highly effective. In addition to the Homework Club, IHC runs a sports club during school holidays to keep the children healthy and active. The ESOL & IT Skills for Integration Project was introduced in response to the community’s needs. Many parents expressed difficulty in assisting their children with homework due to limited English or computer skills. Recognising this challenge, IHC developed this project to help adults improve their language and digital skills. This project not only helps parents support their children’s education but also enables adults to further their own education, increases digital inclusion and confidence, and provides pathways for individuals to secure higher-skilled, higher-paying jobs. Through both the Homework Club and the ESOL & IT Skills for Integration Project, the IHC is dedicated to fostering educational advancement, community empowerment, and greater opportunities for both children and adults. Our CommitteeInclusive Homework Club is governed by Board Members. They’re passionate, committed and responsible for the general governance and oversight of the Inclusive Homework Club’s work.Every decision they make helps move the Inclusive Homework Club forward, so together we can support even more children and young people.
