Dunfermline Men's Shed is a new charity to serve the Dunfermline community. Open to ALL adults over the age of 18, the primary objective is to provide a space for men to meet for a cup of tea and a blether. We aim to combat social isolation particularly in the older generation of men who, unlike women, are difficult to reach to give and receive support. Isolation may be a result of recent spouse or partner bereavement. The facility will provide a tooled area to teach and be taught new skills. There will be a quiet zone to sit and read a paper, have a hot drink, or be taught new skills such as digital skills for the modern age. We are advanced stages of negotiation with th Carnegie Trust and Fife Council to build a shed for the benefit of the community in the underused but much loved Pittencrieff Park. Ideally the facility would be run by the Dunfermline Men's committee but include a larger area for use by other local groups helping the community to thrive.
