Glasgow Short Film Festival is Scotland's leading short film event. We host an inclusive community of filmmakers and film lovers, showcasing ground-breaking works of visual storytelling. We aim to define and inspire diverse forms of cinematic expression, in Scotland and around the world. In everything we do, we aim to be critical and curious, welcoming and accessible.GSFF's core programme comprises international and Scottish competitions. New talent is supported through a programme of learning and networking events, including panel discussions, workshops and one-to-one sessions. GSFF curates unique retrospective programmes and hosts parties and live performances during the festival week, as well as delivering screenings across Scotland and elsewhere throughout the year.International connections are vital to the festival. In 2022 our 300 attending industry delegates included filmmakers and festival programmers from 24 different countries. We are often invited to show new Scottish work at international events. Collaborations have taken place with festivals in Austria, Brazil, China, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and South Korea.Access and inclusivity is at the core of everything we do. Public screenings are ticketed on a Pay What You Can basis. Our screenings are captioned for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers and we provide BSL interpretations for some Q&As. Our programme reflects gender parity, promotes racial, social and sexual diversity, and features work by filmmakers with learning disabilities. Families are served by specially curated screenings and free filmmaking/animation workshops. Our industry programme - free of charge and open to all - aims to demystify film production and exhibition, and foster creativity at all levels. We also offer some of our programme online for viewers across the UK.In addition to showcasing new films from Scotland and around the world, the festival undertakes research in order to support the preservation of Scotland’s film heritage. GSFF also provides programming and consultancy to voluntary community events across Scotland, and advises film students on festival strategy at institutions such as Screen Academy Scotland or the University of the West of Scotland Creative Media Academy. After delivering twelve festival editions as a project of Glasgow Film Theatre, Glasgow Short Film Festival was reconstituted as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation in August 2019. It is currently run by a board of six voluntary trustees, a non-voting voluntary company secretary and two permanent part-time staff (Festival Director and Programme Director).
