Dalavich Improvement Group (DIG) was set up in 2002 to own and manage the Community assets on behalf of the community when the Forestry Commission pulled out of the area. DIG aims to protect and improve the area, especially the natural environment, the wellbeing of residents, the sustainability of the community and the long term viability. We currently own and manage a community centre, a foreshore with Boat Concession, 4 plots of land (agriculture and woodland), a community open space, and the village green. We are in progress of adding EV charging points to the community centre, upgrading the foreshore and putting in a new jetty and have a number of other projects in the pipeline. Having been exclusive reliant of volunteers throughout our history, we are now recruiting a paid Community Development Officer. Most of our funding comes from grants, particularly renewable energy, including the Community Run Of River Hydro Scheme, which is now a CBS known as Awesome Energy, which generates additional grant income in the form of a Community benefit Fund. We are looking to do much more of the same in future years but are suffering small rural community volunteer exhaustion, hence the recruiting of a CDO.
