Dunfermline Foodbank is a charity set up in May 2012 and recognised as a SCIO from June 2012. It is a member of the Trussell Trust network of Foodbanks and it adheres to the governance and policies of the Trussell Trust. The purpose of the charity is the relief of poverty and the advancement of citizenship. We continue to operate out of 5 main foodbank centres in Dunfermline, Rosyth, Inverkeithing, Cowdenbeath and Benarty and have a warehouse facility in Dunfermline. Food donations in the year have not kept up with demand hence we have had to purchase additional stock to top up supplies. We network with a variety of agencies in the area and our volunteers are trained in listening and signposting so clients can be signposted to agencies that can help them out of crisis ie fuel poverty, debt etc. We are involved in local pilots for the Government's Cash First Approach Initiative, ending the need for foodbanks.Last year we fed just under 9,000 people, of which a third were children. We cover a vast range of areas in the top 15% SIMD areas.
