The Junction SCIO is a community-led charity focused on creating an inclusive and welcoming space that fosters connection, growth, and support for individuals of all backgrounds. Our mission is to offer a sanctuary where people can come together, engage in meaningful activities and build stronger relationships within the community. By providing accessible and adaptable spaces, we aim to reduce social isolation, promote well-being, and encourage community involvement. Soul of The Junction SCIO is an exciting community-driven initiative based in Carstairs Junction, Scotland, with the aim of creating a one-of-a-kind soft play area specifically designed for children with additional support needs. This project is born from our commitment to inclusivity and our understanding of the challenges faced by families in rural areas when it comes to accessing safe, accessible, and engaging spaces for children who require additional support. Carstairs Junction, while a close-knit and supportive village, currently lacks recreational facilities tailored to children with disabilities and other special needs. Soul of The Junction SCIO is designed to address this gap, offering a custom-built, fully accessible soft play area that is both fun and therapeutic. Our goal is to create a nurturing environment where children with additional support needs can play freely, explore their abilities, and engage in physical activity, all within a space designed to accommodate their unique requirements.The soft play area will feature sensory-friendly zones, soft surfaces, and adaptive play equipment that cater to children with a wide range of physical, cognitive, and sensory needs. From tactile panels and gentle swings to safe climbing structures and calming spaces, every aspect of the soft play area will be thoughtfully designed to encourage exploration while ensuring the safety and well-being of the children. This space will not only provide a joyful environment for the children but will also serve as a much-needed respite for families and carers who often struggle to find inclusive recreational opportunities in rural settings like Carstairs Junction.Soul of The Junction SCIO is more than just a play space; it is a community asset aimed at promoting social inclusion. It will provide opportunities for children of all abilities to play side by side, fostering empathy, understanding, and connections between families. The facility will also offer support for parents and carers through workshops, family events, and respite sessions, ensuring that the entire family feels supported and connected to the broader community.Our vision is to create a space where every child, regardless of their abilities, can experience the joy and freedom of play.
