The Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society (SABS) is a faith-based organisation representing the ShiĘża Ithna ĘżAshari Muslim community in Scotland. We are committed to serving both our own community and wider society through cultural, social, educational, and interfaith work.Our aim is to build understanding between communities, promote equality, and support a more inclusive and compassionate Scotland. We work in close partnership with faith groups, charities, academic institutions, government bodies, and civil society to strengthen relationships and address shared challenges.SABS is actively involved in a wide range of initiatives, including:Faith and Interfaith Engagement: Hosting and participating in events that bring together people of different faiths and backgrounds to foster mutual respect and harmony.Education and Outreach: Delivering workshops, seminars, and classes to deepen understanding of Shia Islam and promote values such as compassion, justice, and social responsibility.Community Support: Providing practical assistance, counselling, and humanitarian aid - especially for individuals and families facing hardship due to age, ill-health, disability, or other challenges.Supporting Refugees and New Scots: Actively supporting refugees, asylum seekers, New Scots, and underprivileged families through community meals, social inclusion programmes, and access to resources and networks that help build stability and belonging.Health and Wellbeing: Partnering with healthcare organisations and charities to promote mental and physical wellbeing for all, including through awareness campaigns and support services.Inclusion of Youth, Women, and the Elderly: Creating safe, inclusive spaces that empower people of all ages and backgrounds to engage, lead, and thrive.At the heart of our work is the belief in unity, shared humanity, and service to others. Through dialogue, collaboration, and action, we aim to contribute to a more understanding, equitable, and cohesive society - in Scotland and beyond.
