The sale of Trossachs Church, Brig O’Turk by Church of Scotland presents the opportunity to preserve the fabric and heritage of an iconic, historically significant building that has served the immediate and wider community for over 175 years. Our organisation is currently in the middle of the conveyancing process to buy Trossachs Church. We seek to address the lack of diverse, high quality cultural experience and social opportunity in our rural area. This directly responds to the needs of teenagers and young adults, who without consistent financial means to travel to urban centres, are disadvantaged by the highly limited current offer of the area. Post acquisition, Trossachs Church will be developed into a multi-purpose, music and arts venue to benefit the immediate community of Callander and Brig O’Turk, equally presenting a cultural offer with appeal to the wider demographic of the Trossachs and Lomond Park. Development will be ‘light touch’ preserving the traditional fabric of the building while transforming the interior into a flexible and easily adaptable space conducive to the variations of its intended use. Its aesthetic sensibility will enhance the structural legacy of its for former life, apply appropriate use of contemporary materials and adhere to sustainable values in design.
