Drimnin Village Hall [SCIO]
- Membership number 9925
- Charity registered in Scotland SC050259
Drimnin Village Hall, once Bunavullin Primary School, built in the 1800s, has been leased from the Highland Council on a full maintenance/repair lease since 19th September 1980; with the purpose of providing recreational and educational facilities. In 2001, the then Drimnin Village Hall committee chose to extend the lease for a further 50 years. Subsequently, the functionality and safety of the hall remains a key responsibility of the now Drimnin Village Hall SCIO and its Trustees, until at least February 2051. Over the years the use and functions of the hall have adapted with how the community wish to use the space. The hall has been host to many a ceilidh dance and wedding reception. Countless chit chats over cups of tea and hands of cards. As well as providing a stage for educational talks, community meetings and children’s Christmas parties. Bringing us forward to 2024, the most frequented uses of the hall are providing a volunteer lead Saturday morning library and a winter cinema. These events see a consistent flow of attendance each week by locals and visitors alike. Other activities we’ve seen in the past 12 months have included; talks/presentations, Summer BBQ & raffle, Bonfire Night, carol singing followed by a festive bring-a- plate gathering and the inaugural Drimnin PechaKucha Night. These events are well attended, with the Burn’s Night supper reaching a recent peak attendance. Community led events have also increased in popularity and frequency, recently including a curry night & quiz and a very well-attended wine tasting. Private functions and local charities have continued to turn to Drimnin to host their events including; COALAS, In on the Act and Morvern Community Council.
