Overall aim

The aim of this session is to showcase the concept of place-based digital inclusion through projects that are currently developing and delivering this work. Delegates will get an insight to how these projects are identifying and using community assets to build sustainable partnerships.

Description

Place-based digital inclusion is about building sustainable solutions to digital exclusion, which take into consideration the assets and needs of a specific place.

SCVO's will give an overview of their work on place-based digital inclusion over the past few years. We will be joined by a panel of guest speakers from projects currently delivering place-based digital inclusion partnerships:

  • A safe, women-only digital space for collaboration and learning by NEoN Digital Arts in Dundee,
  • The Grantown Hub,
  • A community multimedia studio hub in the George Steven Community Hub in Kilbirnie,
  • The Y Innovate Multimedia Suite in Perth and Kinross,
  • Device lending libraries in North Lanarkshire and Dumfries.

SCVO will launch our new Place Based Digital Inclusion Guide and delegates will have the opportunity to sample some of the tools we use to develop a place-based approach during the session.
