- Description
Based in Edinburgh and Glasgow, the Super Power Agency is a youth writing charity on a mission to help young people write their story. In 2026 we mark a decade of working with volunteers and delivering transformative creative writing workshops. Our volunteers work closely with young people, some for an hour, others for months, but every moment matters. We have seen first-hand how short, meaningful contributions can ignite confidence in young writers and create lasting connections. This event brings those stories and the strategies we use to the forefront.
In addition to in person volunteering, the Super Power Agency has also established a robust virtual volunteer platform, allowing people to contribute flexibly and remotely.
After attending the Gathering last year and hearing how, across the board, third sector organisations are seeing a decrease in volunteers, we are coming to this year's event with a solution - what we hope will be a lively discussion answering the question 'Can You Make an Impact in an Hour'? The panel aims to highlight the impact volunteers can make in as little as one hour, share strategies for using flexibility as a tool to fight poor retention and inspire similar organisations to rethink volunteer engagement models.
During the session we will hear from teachers who have seen student transformation in their classrooms, alumni volunteers who started with a single hour and stayed, and active volunteers sharing what keeps them engaged. The Super Power Agency will speak about how to maximise volunteer impact, even with limited time. Because sometimes, an hour is all it takes.
