- Overall aim
- Demonstrate the power of Global Citizenship Education (GCE) - This session will show how GCE can be a practical and powerful tool to tackle today’s challenges - from climate change and rising inequality to misinformation and social division - by encouraging critical thinking, empathy, collaboration, confidence, respect for diversity, and a commitment to human rights.
- Support third sector organisations to learn from real practice - This session will provide opportunities to hear directly from schools, academics, and community leaders delivering GCE, and explore practical ways to embed these approaches into your organisation’s programmes and community work.
- Inspire collective action for a fairer, more connected Scotland - This session will give participants the chance to see the collective action already happening across Scotland on GCE, learn from others’ experiences, share their own insights, and make connections to contribute to meaningful change.
- Description
Communities in Scotland are facing a world defined by deep and rapid change. From climate breakdown and global conflict to rising inequality, social division, automation, and the cost-of-living crisis, it's no surprise that many feel overwhelmed and unsure where to turn. But what if we could equip people - especially young people - not just to cope with these challenges, but to lead change in the face of them?
In this session, we'll explore the power and potential of Global Citizenship Education (GCE) as a transformative approach to learning and community engagement. You'll hear from school, academic and community leaders who will share how GCE can build resilience, critical thinking, and a global outlook - and how it can be meaningfully embedded into the work of third sector organisations across Scotland. You'll also have the opportunity to take part in interactive workshop activities and learn from the experiences and practice of others in the room.
Join us to explore how global citizenship education can help create a fairer and more connected Scotland - and world, and how you can be part of it!
