Overall aim
  • Understand the value of lived eperience: to show why and how incorporating the lived experience of individuals is essential for creating more effective, ethical, and impactful services, policies, and research.
  • Explore co-production: to introduce and demonstrate practical tools for genuine co-production, moving beyond tokenism to facilitate meaningful collaboration between professionals and those with lived experience.
  • Share best practices: to facilitate the sharing of success stories and lessons learned from existing gambling co-production initiatives, highlighting tangible outcomes achieved through this approach.
  • Develop collaborative skills: to equip participants with the foundational skills necessary to initiate, manage, and sustain equitable co-production partnerships.
  • Address ethical considerations: to explore the ethical responsibilities and safeguarding considerations when working with vulnerable populations in a co-production context.
  • Identify barriers and solutions: to collectively identify common systemic and cultural barriers to implementing lived experience involvement and brainstorm concrete, actionable solutions to overcome them.
  • Influence future strategy: to generate key insights and recommendations that can directly inform and elevate the strategy and design of future support initiatives.

"Elevating your work through lived experience" explores a shift in professional practice. Using the example of gambling harm co-production, we’ll delve into how this approach moves beyond consultation to create a genuine partnership where professional knowledge and lived insight are valued equally.

We will dive deep into the power of co-production, supporting lived experience to become the central driver of innovation and impact. It's time to recognise the expertise held by those with lived experience.
