WHO WE AREA vibrant music initiative in communities across NE Scotland since 2016 serving:- participants working side-by-side with tutors - hundreds of members and Facebook followershttps://www.facebook.com/DeeDonCeilidhCollective- performers in workshops, inclusive sessions and guest slots to build confidence - tutors with strong local ties to the area and global reputations, supporting them with income and activityhttps://deedonceilidhcollective.com/tutorsWHAT WE'VE DONEWe've realised our aims across central Aberdeenshire by:- weekend workshops each quarter rotating around villages across our region. Classes, plenary sessions, inclusive ‘slow sessions’ and evening ceilidhs https://deedonceilidhcollective.com/events- tune book of slow session tunes and songs, chosen and ‘road tested’ by tutors and participants https://deedonceilidhcollective.com/tune-book- community partnerships with village halls, schools, community centres, hotels, bars and festivalsCURRENT PROJECT'Our Living Rivers and Glens is funded by Creative Scotland and aims to bring our cultural community back to life in 2021 while remaining 'at home' as participants- explore the local environment and our unique local landscapes- capture responses in word, sounds, video and images which are being collated in an online map- offer inspiration to tutors during online workshops as input to new tunes and songs- learn the new music through online workshops, a new tune book or streaming- connect with our cultural community online- gather in person to play this new music together as restrictions allow OBJECTIVES AND GOVERNANCEThe Dee and Don Ceilidh Collective was formed as a Scottish charity with the following objectives: a. the advancement of education in music and dance, particularly, but not exclusively that of the north-east of Scotland b. the advancement of arts, culture and heritage through participative events celebrating culture past and present in Upper Deeside and DonsideWe have an active committee of volunteer Trustees and report our accounts each year to the Scottish charity regulator OSCR.
