FeldyRoo
Why you should vote for FeldyRoo for the People’s Choice Award
#FeldyRoo was about much more than delivering free meals, the project created a fantastic social experience for both volunteers and residents. The community spirit and teamworking that emerged during the project has had a lasting effect on our community. With a further project of the #FeldyRoo Fitness Trail already under way (providing accessible pathways in Aberfeldy around River Tay, encompassing a Parkrun track on the unused land of the old golf course) the #FeldyRoo legacy very much lives on in our community.
#FeldyRoo was set up at the beginning of the Pandemic to provide hot meals two times a day, free newspapers and a friendly chat for isolating residents in Highland Perthshire during both lockdowns. During this period a team of 140 volunteers, 10 hospitality businesses collaborated to deliver over 50,000 meals in Aberfeldy and the surrounding villages. The project raised over £200,000 during this time to sustain the project, creating an amazing community spirit throughout the area. #FeldyRoo is still active today, providing swift help during Storm Arwen and hosting weekly Bingo High Teas for our elderly residents.
