Golden Friendships is a fully inclusive club committed to satisfying the needs of every visitor/user. We gather information from guests through ongoing dialogue and adapt/improve facilities wherever possible. Tackling loneliness and isolation is one of our key priorities. We look to bring people together and give opportunities to develop lasting relationships. We also strive to provide better life chances to anyone with a physical or mental disability. Through discussions with individuals and their support network we tailor group activities and entertainment to suit everyone equally. We aspire to be the first bespoke wheelchair entertainment venue in the country.
This application details the rapid development and expansion of a local community charity created in 2017 with an ambition to provide bespoke facilities, events & opportunities for predominately elderly and disabled individuals who had little or no access to facilities in which they could enjoy and participate in musical, drama or performance entertainment within their community. The remarkable levels of support and contributions from local businesses, individuals and fundraising initiatives over 4 years resulted in the outright purchase and creation of a customized facility and exciting programme of events, that are enjoyed by over 1100 isolated and marginalized individuals weekly.
