GEMAP - Financially Included: tackling economic abuse

Why you should vote for GEMAP - Financially Included: tackling economic abuse for the People’s Choice Award

In our first year we supported 183 women with welfare benefits and debt advice. Our client financial gains stand at an outstanding total of £315,353.70!

This has gone directly to the women who need it most, feeding and clothing their children and ensuring they can heat their homes.

Our innovative partnership approach has seen us co-produce economic abuse training with frontline women's workers and money advisers. We explored their experiences to establish best practice.

Our work directly improves the lives of women who have experienced economic abuse, empowering them to achieve financial freedom, rebuild their lives and regain their confidence.

Financially Included’s aim is tackling economic abuse. Economic abuse is a type of domestic abuse and involves the control and coercion of a person's money and resources.

In the last year, our team of 4 have developed our strategy, service and built up a network across both the women’s services and money advice sectors to bridge the gap survivors of economic abuse have identified.

We coproduced training with money advisers and women’s workers to improve responses to economic abuse across Glasgow, alongside providing direct support to victims, maximising their incomes, and empowering them to work towards financial freedom.
