Simba
Simba is committed to honouring baby loss, now and always. Since 2005, we have gifted over 65,000 unique, hand-finished Memory Boxes to bereaved families at home and in Hospital. We have listened carefully to the needs of bereaved parents and refurbished Bereavement Rooms within Maternity Units to offer a more comfortable and private space. We have created our poignant Trees of Tranquillity remembrance sculptures, so that families have an accessible yet peaceful place to honour their baby. Our private Facebook Groups offer peer support and friendship. And our amazing volunteers are at the heart of all we do.
Simba has overcome profoundly challenging circumstances. In January 2023, we faced closure within months, meaning thousands of bereaved families would not have received our support at their critical time of loss. However, our committed Trustees, Volunteers and Staff pulled together with positivity and proactivity to prevent closure and steer us back to safety. Thanks to unprecedented support, we were able to continue gifting Memory Boxes to a further 11,000 grieving families in 2023, re-furbish Bereavement Rooms in the Scottish Borders and Inverness in Jan and Feb 2024 and re-install the much loved Tree of Tranquillity in Glasgow in March 2024.
