Mary Hepburn - Fife Rape and Sexual Assault Centre
Our volunteers give one-to-one, face-to-face emotional support to survivors of rape and sexual assault. Clients are offered 1 hour sessions a week, for up to 24 weeks.
Mary first started volunteering in 2022 after retiring from her role as a counselling tutor. As volunteer Counsellor, Mary has supported 19 clients, offering over 93 hours of one-to-one support since 2022. There is no better way to describe the impact Mary has on her clients than to share her client’s own words:
“I never thought I would be where I am now …
FRASAC has made me want to live again and look forward to my future […] this is the safest I have felt since I was raped.”
“The counselling service is first class. I feel safer within myself and understand better why I think and feel certain ways.”
Mary’s strong ethics and caring nature are incredibly appreciated by all at FRASAC. Mary speaks her mind, she is a deep listener and always willing to be the best practitioner she can. Mary deeply cares for her clients and her peers, and we are better thanks to her support.
