Edinburgh Garden Partners
Edinburgh Garden Partners matches older people and others who are no longer able to access or make the most of their gardens with volunteers looking for space to grow. Volunteers and Garden Owners are matched 1-1 and supported to build a friendship and set up a vegetable plot within the garden space - all produce grown is shared.
Being part of Edinburgh Garden Partners makes people feel more connected. In 2025, 55 volunteers spent 4,264 hours in their shared gardens: turning neglected spaces into productive plots and forming lasting friendships with older and disabled Garden Owners. Having a garden partner helps the Garden Owners in our community to stay active and feel valued. For volunteers, access to a growing space and intergenerational connections improve wellbeing. This year we are celebrating 15 years of changing lives through garden sharing: we launched our SOS network, partnered with major organisations and supported six new garden-sharing projects across Scotland and beyond.
