The Big House Multibank connects surplus goods with families in need, providing essential household items quickly and with dignity, while reducing waste and tackling poverty across Scotland.
The Big House Multibank tackles poverty and waste by redistributing surplus goods from retailers to families across Scotland. Since launching in 2022, it has delivered over 4 million essential items, now supporting around 2,500 families every week. In the past year, distribution has more than doubled, with a network of over 770 referral partners enabling fast, dignified support. Evaluation shows the model reduces stress, prevents crisis and helps families stay together. By connecting surplus with need, The Big House provides a practical, scalable solution that improves lives while reducing impact, demonstrating how social and environmental challenges can be addressed together.
