Grey Matters Active Ageing supports people aged 60 plus to stay active connected and engaged within their community. Through a range of activities, social opportunities and experiences it reduces loneliness, challenges age stereotypes and promotes positive healthy ageing. They have an Active Ageing Centre dedicated to promoting social and community connection.

Alison Gildea is the Founder and Manager of Grey Matters Active Ageing where she is redefining what it means to grow older. Her work tackles loneliness and isolation for people aged 60 plus by creating opportunities that challenge outdated stereotypes and unlock confidence connection and joy. As the charity’s sole employee she leads every aspect from funding and programme design and delivery to volunteer coordination and member support. Her approach goes beyond activities by shifting mindsets and helping older people rediscover purpose and possibility while empowering them to live boldly with confidence, independence and a renewed sense of belonging.
