Care4Calais Scotland & Passion4Fusion - Saturday Football
Care4Calais support people in the asylum system and refugees with wellbeing activities, advocacy and material aid across Scotland but particularly in Edinburgh and Lothians. Our partners are Passion4Fusion who support Black and multi-ethnic communities through sport, mental health, employability, advocacy and cultural programmes, using activities like football as a gateway to improve wellbeing, reduce inequalities and help people build confident, connected lives.
The Football Programme is a partnership between Care4Calais Scotland and Passion4Fusion, developed to support asylum seekers and refugees facing isolation, trauma and uncertainty. Using football as a tool for engagement, it creates a safe, inclusive space where men can connect, build trust and improve mental wellbeing without stigma. Barriers such as cost, language and accessibility are removed to ensure participation. The programme strengthens links into the wider community, supporting integration and belonging. Participants report reduced isolation, improved mood, increased confidence and stronger social connections, alongside access to informal support and signposting to relevant services.
