  • To explore the findings of the Social Security Advocacy Service
  • To demonstrate the benefits of collaborative working
Description

Join us for an insightful session at The Gathering, where Scottish Government will discuss the Social Security (Scotland) Act 2018 and how it has impacted thousands of people. Learn about the key developments that have led us to where we are today and gain a deeper understanding of the current landscape.

You will hear about the work of the Social Security Advocacy Service in Scotland, and how it enables anyone in Scotland self-identifying as disabled to get advocacy support to help them to understand and access Social Security Scotland benefits.

The VoiceAbility team will share their experiences and insights into supporting people to ensure their voices are heard. You'll hear real-world examples of how VoiceAbility has helped individuals navigate the complexities of the social security system, as well as the successes and challenges we've faced along the way.

We will explore the benefits of our inclusive approach and describe how we are developing community hubs to improve collaboration with other third sector and community organisations.

This session is a must-attend for anyone who wants to learn more about social security in Scotland and how we continue to advocate for people's rights. We look forward to seeing you there!
