- Description
This session will draw on the experiences of LGBTQ+ young people as presented in our 2022 Life in Scotland report, a piece of research which gathered the views of over 1200 LGBTQ+ young people in Scotland. We will use information from this research, along with our own experiences working with organisations through the LGBT Charter programme, to present some of the inequalities, barriers, and challenges that LGBTQ+ young people face when engaging with services and organisations in Scotland today.
The session will start with an overview of the report, to frame the lived experience of LGBTQ+ young people in Scotland. We will then spend time in small groups reflecting on both best practice and potential challenges related to delivering an inclusive service. The session will close with a wider reflection and some top tips on how to provide more inclusive services and safe spaces for LGBTQ+ young people.
Participants will leave the session having reflected on their own practice, networked and exchanged ideas with others, and with top tips for inclusive best practice along with some signposting to further information.
