Overall aim

This high energy session will feature four speakers who have a story to tell about how their work drives change across Scottish society. Join us to soak up their energy and passion and leave with a call to bring these stories into your own work and shout about how essential our sector is more often.

Description

In the final slot of the day, we want you to leave the Gathering with a spring in your step.

Hosted by David McNeill, Director of Development at SCVO, our four speakers will deliver TED style talks. No death-by-powerpoint, but a punchy and engaging focus on how their work makes a difference.

  • Scottish Recovery Network are working with others to create a New Future for Mental Health which challenges current thinking and is powered by lived experience
  • Fair Justice System Scotland punch above their weight and engage the ‘system’ in their push for racial equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • The Third Sector Employability Forum combines the strengths of the third sector, to give voice to the needs and aspirations of people seeking employment.
  • Obesity Action Scotland are working deliver a healthy weight for all by providing leadership and advocacy on preventing and reducing overweight and obesity in Scotland.

These are just four examples of the often-unsung work that our sector delivers day in and out. We’ll end the session with a short film telling the story of our Essential Sector. You’ll head home from the Gathering feeling recharged and ready to keep pushing for change.
