Description

Is digital really bad? Maybe not... or at least it doesn't have to be.

The internet has changed how we communicate, transact and participate in society. It has brought us together and opened up opportunities on a global scale. Digital tools are a facilitator of opportunities for people that have the capacity and ability to use them, but this means that they are also open to abuse and misuse. Our increasing dependence on the internet means that we have a responsibility to develop sustainable, ethical routes towards digital inclusion. 

Why? Because the internet isn’t going anywhere. 

With 800,000 people in Scotland currently offline, we all agree that it's everyone's responsibility to support them to get online - but how do we balance the good with the bad? How do we recognise the pitfalls of the global digital community and what do we do to mitigate them? 

Join us for a conversation about how the internet impacts our wellbeing, environment and relationships and how we can better support new digital citizens to navigate these harms safely.
