Overall aim

By attending this workshop, we anticipate you will gain:

  • a clearer understanding of what outcomes are and what they are not
  • a practical tool for thinking about the outcomes of the work of your organisation at multiple levels
  • a deeper understanding of what it means to 'own your organisation's outcomes', and the benefits of this
  • some next steps to enable you to put the learning from this session into action.
Description

It’s easy for organisations to get caught in a tangle of outcomes when expected to respond and adapt to the range of approaches taken by funders, commissioners, policy leads and regulators. Being able to understand and navigate around this complex outcomes landscape is key to being a sustainable third sector organisation. This is what we call ‘owning your outcomes’.

In this hands-on workshop, we will take you through our straightforward and practical approach to working well with organisational outcomes. Called outcome mapping, this manageable theory of change approach breaks down complex change into meaningful steps. Your organisation can evidence each step with its own data and feedback to understand and track progress towards different levels of outcomes.

We will share examples from organisations that have used their improved understanding of their own outcomes to work in a more streamlined and strategic way with multiple funders.
