Event summary and materials

What was covered in your sessions?

We talked about the context for some work that the Scotland Funders Forum has commissioned from IVAR into how Scottish charities are managing reserves just now and what could be different in order to make reserves a more effective feature of the sector’s finances. Following a presentation by IVAR on their interim findings we held table discussions. These considered two key questions: firstly, how can we strengthen charities’ reserves management? and secondly, what can funders & commissioners do to help improve reserves management?

Was there any useful feedback or reflection from the participants?

Yes, the attached summary report collates some of the feedback from the table discussions, organised by several themes that emerged. These include a desire for greater clarity about how funders view and approach reserves; ideas and suggestions for action; and thoughts about the relationship between reserves and organisations’ resilience.

How people can find out more or get involved in your work?

Sign up to IVAR’s newsletter via their website: https://www.ivar.org.uk/ to hear when the report is available around the end of August.
