What was covered in your sessions?
As leaders and managers, everyone in our team needs to feel supported, guided and recognised. We discussed how effective leaders need to be authentic, adaptive and generous in this complex and uncertain world?
Cranfield Trust’s roundtable explored what we need to learn and re-learn to enhance leadership in our organisations and make sure that our teams get what they need from us.
Was there any useful feedback or reflection from the participants?
From input gathered through breakout groups, we found that our sector colleagues have a traditional experience of leadership roles (giving examples of Chief Executives and other senior roles), but rated the ability to form relationships, clear communications and empathy above more technical leadership qualities, or personal leadership attributes. It may be that the voluntary sector values collaborative leadership particularly highly: qualities rated most strongly were clarity of communication, listening skills and responsiveness.
