Overall aim

This event gives you an opportunity to:

  • Understand what peer support is, hear about different peer support roles and explore the context in Scotland
  • See collaboration in action as we look at what’s happening in Fife to grow the peer support offer locally
  • Connect with others interested in peer support, building on your learning with facilitated group discussions
  • Access a range of free peer support resources
Description

Peer support is powerful and it works. It provides space where people with shared experiences support each other, especially as they move through challenging times. Working together, in a compassionate way to find a way through. The Third Sector in Scotland is leading innovation in peer support. The vast majority of Peer Worker roles sit in the sector. Peer support groups and services are providing access to essential and immediate mental health support, as we grapple with an overwhelmed mental health system.

Setting the scene, this workshop provides the chance to learn about what peer support is and why it’s so powerful? As a participant you’ll be one of the first to hear about the findings from The Big Scottish Peer Support national survey. This new piece of research provides key insights into peer support activity across the country.

Shifting to a more local focus, the workshop also explores the important role that collaboration plays in developing peer support. Participants will hear from Maggie Wright, CEO, Families in Trauma and Recovery, and xxxxx. Maggie and xxxx will share learning from working together to create sustainable peer support opportunities in Fife.

Join us for insights, shared learning and lots of free resources to help you develop and deliver peer support where you are.
