This session aims to showcase how sportscotland works with others to develop young people as leaders. Some of our outstanding young leaders from a range of leadership programmes will introduce you to the pioneering programmes they are involved in and help you with discussion and tools to explore how you can translate them to your sector.
By the end of the session, you will have:
- a better insight into the experiences and skills gained by our young people
- an understanding of how these inspirational young people contribute to a world class sporting system in Scotland (both locally and nationally)
- increased knowledge and tools to create young leader programmes within your own organisations
- Description
Young people have an important and active role in achieving our vision where sport is a way of life.
Our priority is to work together to ensure that young people have access to a range of leadership roles in sport and are encouraged and supported to reach their potential.
Through their involvement and development as leaders in sport, the sport sector can help provide a legacy of confident, knowledgeable and experienced young people.
There is already a significant amount of work being delivered in this area by sportscotland and our national and local partners (Sports Governing Bodies and local authorities). Come along and hear from some outstanding young people about the Young Leader programmes they have been involved in and the skills and experience they have gained from being Young Leaders.
