- Overall aim
- Sharing emerging learning and practice methods in using deliberative participation techniques with communities that enable consensus building on important issues, planning and projects.
- Increase awareness of the “Just Transition Communities Project” in North East Scotland and make links with other community just transition initiatives.
- Campaigning for policy change and system change, so that transitions are fairer and greener, and not following a “business as usual” model.
- Description
Not just an “energy transition”. Through a panel discussion and presentations, we will explore what a Just Transition vision and plan really needs to consider to protect and develop the interests of communities and places and equip them for the future. The call from communities is “Don’t make decisions about us, without us”. We will explore how a Just Transition is measured, what common themes are emerging from communities, how communities are acting to bring about change, and how we can join up voices and creative solutions to make this transition to net zero “just”.
This event is aimed at project/line managers as well as communities, practitioners, decision and policy makers, researchers, campaigners and change makers.
