- Overall aim
This session will explore how charities and voluntary organisations can use framing in campaigns and practice.
It will introduce what framing is and how it can be used to help shape how people think, feel and act in response to your work - with a particular emphasis on tackling apathy, division and discrimination.
- Description
How we talk about an issue matters. Our communications can make the difference between engagement and dismissal, between hope and despair, between collective action and individuals taking a step back.
Charities and voluntary organisations in Scotland have access to Scottish Government and are trusted by the public - but it's not enough. Too often, decision-makers aren’t listening or acting. At the same time, the public mood is shifting in unexpected ways. It can be difficult to cut through the noise - including the assumptions and inaccuracies about the work that we do, and the communities that we serve
Join expert speakers from FrameWorks UK, who will introduce the concept of framing, and Each and Every Child, who will explore what it looks like to use framing in depth on care experience and other social issues.
Each and Every Child aims to build understanding and shift public attitudes towards care experience and the care system in Scotland. By sharing robustly tested framing recommendations, based on research into Scottish public attitudes conducted by FrameWorks UK, we can counter stigma and discrimination towards people with experience of care. Each and Every Child is funded by The Robertson Trust, The Scottish Government, CELCIS, Social Work Scotland, Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and Life Changes Trust.
FrameWorks UK is a not-for-profit communications research organisation. We work with charities, foundations and other mission-driven organisations to communicate about social issues in ways that will create change.
