Overall aim

Victim Support Scotland's session aims to:

  • Raise awareness and understanding of the work carried out by Victim Support Scotland
  • Enhance understanding of the experiences of people affected by crime
  • Explore opportunities for future partnerships

By increasing understanding and awareness of the work VSS does to support and advocate for those impacted by crime, we hope to build on existing partnerships and create new ones to advance mutual goals.

Description

Victim Support Scotland is looking to explore opportunities to build new partnerships that advance our mission - that all those affected by crime receive the high-quality support and care they need to move forward with their lives.

This session will enrich your understanding of the profile of people affected by crime in Scotland: who they are; how they are impacted; and what they tell us about their experiences.

You will also learn more about the work of Victim Support Scotland, the services we offer and our work to embed victim-centred and trauma-informed approaches across Scotland's criminal justice system.

We will demonstrate that Victim Support Scotland is an organisation that third sector partners can turn to when they need us. We are a national organisation with a local presence, working both in your community and with your community.

With an interactive element to the session, we want to learn more about the needs of the people you support so that we can ensure our services work for them.

Last year's session received great feedback, including:

  • "It provided a great insight to the work that VSS do, where they operate, how they operate and the impact of their work. It was fun and interactive with some quizzes, so I learned key data I didn't know and provided food for thought on crime and how people are impacted."
  • "Very informative. I did not previously have a great deal of understanding of how VSS works, or what can be offered. I also enjoyed the interaction via the phone app."
  • "Fascinating talk about a service with not enough exposure."
  • "I found this an excellent event and feel there will be opportunities to engage with this organisation. Well organised and good interaction."
