- Description
Drawing on creative methods , this session considers how we begin conversations between autistic people and those that support them about getting older and navigating changing support needs. We will also continue a wider conversation with care providers, health professionals, and policy-makers about autism, ageing, and care.
In the workshop we will share two documentary films and series of artworks that were co-produced as part of a creative research project. The project was a partnership between Heriot-Watt University, Scottish Autism, and Iceberg Productions - a group of autistic co-researchers and filmmakers.
We will reflect on the value of film and artwork as methods for iterative, inclusive conversations; share the key themes that emerged in our discussions; and share our recommendations for planning future service provision.
After viewing the films and artwork participants will be invited to provide their own responses and reflections as we take the conversation to the voluntary sector across Scotland to consider what learning and approaches, we might share.
